My booth is set and ready to go for the American Craft Council – Atlanta show starting today at the Cobb Galleria Centre!

I arrived in town late Wednesday, so was up bright and early Thursday morning to unload and set up. Just a couple of glitches–I went to the wrong loading dock initially (it’s a big place) and I only had room in my car for a small dolly–so it took quite a few trips to move my display and my work to my booth location.

Then I was putting up my display panels and couldn’t figure out why they didn’t fit, so I got out a measuring  tape and discovered that my booth was 10′ x 9′ instead of 10′ x 10′–that will make a difference! Fortunately the show staff were very helpful and it was relatively easily fixed.

I always enjoy walking around the floor before the show opens while everyone is still setting up and seeing how creative most people are when it comes to their booth displays. I even snapped  a photo of someone’s packing materials because the patterns looked like a great quilt design! You never know when inspiration will strike.

If you come to the show, don’t forget to stop by the Make a Room booths in the center of the exhibit hall–my Red Totem quilt is featured in the room designed by Atlanta decorator Erika Hollinshead Ward.

There was a preview party last night which was a lot of fun. I met some really interesting people–both visitors and artists–and one of my pieces even found its new home! Homefire went home with a lovely couple from Atlanta who had lived in Reston, where I live now, many years ago before it was the bustling suburb it is now. It’s a small world.

The show runs March 14-16 and the hours are 10-8 Friday, 10-6 Saturday, and 11-5 Sunday. I’m in Booth 1404 and I’d love to see you if you’re in the area.
