I’m excited to be teaching classes next week at the Quilters Unlimited Annual Quilt Show. The show and classes will be held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA.

My first class is a half day from 9 – 12 on Friday, June 2 to make my Angled Stripe table runner. We’ll learn to make improvisational angled stripes out of a variety of fabrics and colors, then turn them this way and that to design a runner that will add a splash of color to any room. The technique is very versatile–you can use it to make pillows or wall hangings too.

The second class is Artful Improv – Permission to Play! on Saturday, June 3 from 9 – 4. We’ll make original art quilts using my “no rules, no pattern” process from my book, Artful Improv: Explore Color Recipes, Building Blocks & Free Motion Quilting. Learn five easy techniques to piece blocks in an intuitive, free-form fashion. I give students tips about using color effectively and using simple principles of artistic design. There’s no precise cutting or matching seams and each quilt will be as unique as its maker.

There are still a few spots left in each class. Go this link http://quiltersunlimited.org/quilt-show/2017-classes/ to register and print out the supply lists.

I like to use solid fabrics, so most of my examples show solids, but you can use batiks or prints if you prefer for either class.

I look forward to seeing you in class!
