I’m pleased that Quilting Arts Magazine gave a nice review to my new book–Artful Improv–in its December 2016/January 2017 issue now available in mailboxes and on newsstands!

Quilting Arts with review - Cindy Grisdela Art Quilts

Quilting Arts Magazine with review of Artful Improv

In case you can’t read the type in the image above, here’s the text of the Quilting Arts review:

“Do away with patterns and embrace your creative spirit with this vibrant and fun book. Using five piecing techniques and design principles, Cindy Grisdela encourages art through improvisation. Discover your own personal style by playing with negative space and creating color combinations with the use of a color recipe. Creating texture with free-motion quilting, sleeve-free hanging ideas, and other useful tips for art quilting make this book a useful addition to creative quilters’ libraries.”

How cool is that?!

I like the idea that the book “encourages art through improvisation.” That was one of my goals in writing it–to give people tools to create art quilts using their own personal style with the help of a few simple guidelines and techniques.

Maybe Artful Improv would make a nice gift for a quilter in your life–or one just for yourself! You can order a signed copy for yourself or someone one else here on my website–just let me know in the comments section what name to personalize it to–or it’s available on Amazon, or at barnesandnoble.com. The book is starting to be available in quilt shops too–if yours doesn’t carry it, maybe you could suggest it to them!

December 19 is the cut-off date to get books from me by December 24.

I’ll be back in a day or so with an update on the One of a Kind Show I did last weekend in Chicago–the week has gotten away from me with holiday preparations!
