It’s truly awe-inspiring to have my work set up in the same room with originals by Claude Monet!

That’s where I found myself yesterday setting up for the American Fine Craft Show at the Brooklyn Museum.

The show is being held in an atrium in the museum, with a beautiful tile and glass floor and art from the museum collection on all the walls–in addition to the Monets, there are Renaissance paintings and more modern pieces from Russian masters. For a former art history major like myself, it was hard to focus on the task of setting up my booth for wanting to walk around and see the museum’s paintings!

This is a unique experience for artists and visitors alike. As artists, we try at every show to create a booth that allows the visitor a window into our creative worlds–and some of the booths are as creative in design as the art they exhibit. With the backdrop of the museum, the bar is higher and the experience is sure to be more interesting!

There are 90 artists in a variety of fine craft media in the show–from high-end jewelry and wearable art, to sculpture and ceramics, wood and decorative fiber. There’s sure to be something to satisfy everyone on your list. The show runs from 12-6 today and 11-6 tomorrow. I’m in Booth 74 in the atrium and I’d love to show you my new work. Admission is $12 and includes admittance to the museum collection as well as the art in the show.
