Framed Boxes

Framed Boxes is an art quilt in a cool blue and purple color scheme with a spark of warm reds. Two borders of curved stripes add interest. I challenged myself to create several small improvisational compositions in warm and cool colors without really knowing what I would do with them. The contrast between the warm reds and cool blues when the finished blocks were laid out spoke to me and inspired this composition.  A variety of stitching motifs, including square spirals, fans, and loops add texture and dimension.

Size: 20″ x 16″ – mounted on painted black canvas.

Materials: Cherrywood hand dyed fabrics, variegated thread, batting. Mounted on painted black canvas.
