Uneven Bars – Cindy Grisdela 2016

The American Fine Craft Show | Washington is this weekend and I’m all set up and ready to go!

Judging from what I saw at setup yesterday, it’s going to be a great show. There are about 100 contemporary craft artists from all over the country exhibiting, including jewelers, furniture makers, ceramicists, sculptors, mixed media artists, and decorative and wearable fiber. I’m in Booth 107.

The show is located at the DC Armory at 2001 South Capitol St. SE–just blocks from the Capitol. There’s a subway stop right there and ample parking close by. Hours are 4-8:30 pm today, 10-6 Saturday and 10-4:30 on Sunday.

Admission is just $8 today, $15 Saturday and Sunday, or $16 for a weekend pass. You can go here to get a discount coupon on Saturday and Sunday admission.

I’m excited to have some new larger pieces on exhibit for this show, including Uneven Bars, at left. This piece is 31″ x 38″ and incorporates some of my favorite techniques–improv blocks in a variety of mostly warm colors, plus lots

of negative space to add different quilting motifs.

This was one of the pieces that got rejected for Quilt National this year, and I blogged about it here.  But I really like these quilts anyway and I’m happy to be able to share them.

It’s been a whirlwind week, with my open studio event last weekend, the blog tour for my new book winding up, lecturing and teaching to a great group of quilters in Columbia, MD on Monday and Tuesday, setting up for this show, and getting ready to go to Houston for Quilt Market next week! I’ll blog more about the week in a day or so.

I hope you’ll have a chance to stop by and see us at the show this weekend–we’d love to show you what we’ve been working on.
