The Studio Art Quilts Association (SAQA) 2014 Benefit Auction starts today, Monday, September 15, 2014 at 2 PM EDT.
SAQA members donate 12″ x 12″ works of art for the auction and proceeds go to support exhibits and programs that showcase quilts as art all over the world.
It’s one of my favorite events, and I’m proud to have donated to the auction for the last five years. My piece, “Surfside,” pictured at left, was chosen to be part of an in-person auction at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX at the end of October. I’ll post more details about that closer to the time.
In the online part of the auction starting today, all the quilts on Page 1 will be eligible for bidding, and there are some wonderful pieces! It’s a reverse auction with the starting bid at $750 today, going down to $550 tomorrow, $350 on Wednesday, $250 on Thursday, $150 on Friday and $75 on Saturday. The price changes at 2 PM EDT each day.
The next section of the auction, on Page 2, starts on September 22 using the same pricing model, and the third phase, on Page 3, starts on September 29. There’s a great explanation on the SAQA site here if you need more information.
Go take a look and see which piece is your favorite!
