The Great Falls Studios 2014 Studio Tour is just one week away. Next Friday, October 17, 50 artists in Great Falls, VA will open their studio doors to visitors–many of them are only open at this time. It’s our 11th year, and the Tour runs for three days this year, through Sunday, October 19. Hours are 10-5 each day.
It’s a great opportunity to visit artists in their own creative spaces–you’ll see the tools they use and sometimes the mess they make, talk to them about their inspiration and their process, see their work up close, and find out why they are compelled to create art. And if you’d like to buy a piece of art for your own home or office, you can do that too!
The Tour is free and it’s family friendly. Visit the website at www.GreatFallsStudios.com to plan your trip–click on “2014 Studio Tour.” You can read about the artists and see images of the work that will be presented on the Tour–paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, a weaver, a printmaker, and much more. Oh and of course–my contemporary quilted wall hangings! Download a brochure from the website, or just pick one up at Studio Headquarters at the Great Falls Community Library, or at any stop along the way.
I’ll be at my studio at the Artists’ Atelier with 10 of my studio mates. I have some new wall hangings in a variety of sizes, plus table runners. I’ll be demonstrating how I add texture to my work with just a regular sewing machine–you can try it too!
We’re located at 1144 Walker Road, Suite G. We’ve been busy hanging new work in our studio spaces and in the gallery–come see what we’ve been up to!
I hope to see you there. But if that weekend doesn’t work for you, mark your calendars for October 31-November 2, when I’ll be exhibiting at the Washington Craft Show in downtown Washington, DC.
