Awakening

Awakening is a study in neutrals and low saturation solid colors. As I push myself to explore the full range of colors and values, it seemed appropriate to work on some that aren’t as comfortable to me to use. Color doesn’t have to be bright to be effective!

The shapes were all cut freehand without patterns or templates, using my rotary cutter like a drawing tool. To break up some of the shapes, I inserted very skinny 1/8″ lines in brighter, more saturated colors.
