Balance

Balance is part of a series of minimalist designs that focus on large shapes and the negative space between them.

Stitching lines add texture with lines that echo the shapes in the negative space. I’m interested in the secondary designs that are created when the echoing stitching lines change direction, as in the upper left.

Size: 20″ x 20″ mounted on painted black canvas.

Materials: cotton fabric, batting, variegated thread, painted canvas
