Musings II
Musings II is part of a series of work that explores large saucer like shapes and the negative space between them. I’m intrigued by how the shapes can seem to go in and out of focus depending on the intensity of the colors I use and the values of the pieced backgrounds that hold them together.
The shapes were all cut freehand without patterns or templates, using my rotary cutter like a drawing tool. Vertical stitching lines add texture and bring the design together.
Musings II was accepted into Quilt National ’25 and traveled with the exhibit in various venues for a year. Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUDO4RPT9vg to hear my artist talk about the process of making the piece.
