Sandstone is a modern improv quilt in a variety of creams, pinks, grays, rusts, and brown, with accents of blue. Improv blocks and curved stripes give energy to the piece and it’s the perfect size to add a splash of color to a wall in your home or office. The blocks interrupting the curved stripes reminded me of stones in a dry landscape.

The stitching has pebble detailing in the some of the stripes and narrow wavy lines in others.

Materials: cotton and linen fabric, batting, thread.

Includes a hanging sleeve and wooden slat with an eye hook on each end for easy hanging on the wall with only two nails.

I create all my work in my studio overlooking a lake in Reston, VA. Each wall hanging is quilted individually using my sewing machine. The designs are stitched freehand, with no marking ahead of time and no computer program, just me drawing the designs in my head with the machine’s needle and thread.

Each piece has my signature stitched into the front in an unobtrusive spot.

Care: Avoid hanging in direct sunlight. To remove dust, brush lightly with a lint roller.
