I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been accepted into the Annapolis Arts and Crafts Festival to be held June 11-12, 2011 at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, MD. The hours are 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday. Admission is $8 for adults. In addition to great art, there will be entertainment, food, wine-tasting and kid’s activities. Annapolis is a great city with lots to do, so put June 11-12 on your calendar!
I’ve been working on a commission all week, so haven’t been able to show my work in process, but I have this new pillow design–Rainbow–that I’d like to share!
I always have strips left over from straightening the edges of my fabric before cutting into it for a project and I’ve been collecting them in a basket in my studio. I like the happy jumble of colors–then it occurred to me that the strips would make a wonderful pillow. I started with yellow in the middle and worked my way out using warm colors on one side and cool colors on the other. Then it’s quilted with my favorite swirl design, backed and stuffed with a hypoallergenic pillow form and it’s ready to go! This one is about 18″ square. I plan to have this one and hopefully a few others for sale at the show in Annapolis.
What’s your view on having pillows, journal covers and other functional items for sale at my shows in addition to fiber art wall hangings? Are you glad to have a range of choices, or would you rather just see art for the wall?
Thanks for your input!
