I’m honored to have won an Award of Excellence at the Downtown Art Festival in Gainesville, FL for the second year in a row.
Two judges visit every competitive booth during the day on Saturday to score artists on originality, execution, and overall presentation of their work. At 4 PM, the festival staff and the judges begin visiting the winning booths to present the awards. It’s exciting to have a crowd in front of my booth and lots of clapping!
I’m very grateful to the Festival and the judges for this recognition. It’s great to have this happen in my hometown. And it’s thrilling to win an award as a fiber artist in a show that includes all media–from painting to photography, ceramics to jewelry, sculpture to mixed media and more.
It was a great weekend at the Festival. The weather was nice and the visitors were engaging and interested in my work. Several pieces went to new homes this weekend!
I’m on the road today back to Virginia and my studio to get ready for my next show–the American Fine Craft Show at the Brooklyn Museum. It runs November 22 and 23–the weekend before Thanksgiving. I hope to see some of you there!
