“Time Travel” Cindy Grisdela

There are still a few spaces left in my Building Blocks of Improvisational Quilting workshop on June 27 -28 in Great Falls, VA.

Learn to let go of the “rules” and piece blocks in an intuitive, free form fashion to create your own unique quilts. In the class we’ll explore modern versions of log cabin, drunkard’s path and rail fence designs, plus curved piecing and inset strips. Put the units together in your own way to make your own statement.

The workshop will be held at the Great Falls School of Art at 756 Walker Road, Great Falls, VA from 9:30 AM – 4 PM on Saturday, June 27 and Noon – 4 PM on Sunday, June 28.

Visit http://www.greatfallsart.org/quilting/ for more information and to register.

Time Travel at left is just one example of a quilt that uses several of these different units together to create an interesting art quilt. Improvisational log cabin blocks alternate with inset strip blocks, and the whole piece is bordered by curved strips.

Learn how to create the building blocks, then use your creativity to come up with your own unique quilt! We’ll talk about color, design, adding texture, and finishing techniques. I’d love for you to join us!
