The Downtown Art Festival is this weekend in Gainesville, FL. I’m excited to do this show in my hometown for the fourth year in a row.
At left is “Jewel Box” which is finished just in time for the show to open on Saturday, November 14. Hours are 10-5 Saturday and Sunday.
“Jewel Box” is a study in cool blue, green and purple, which just a pop of warm orange and red for spice. Below is a detail of the free motion stitching that adds nice texture to the piece.
Gainesville is where I grew up, so I’ve been down here for the last few days visiting with family and getting ready for the show. It’s not too hot, so it should be a good weekend to get out and see some art–maybe get a head start on your holiday shopping, or find something special just for yourself.
There are over 250 artists in the show, which is one of the top rated shows in the country. You’ll find everything from paintings to photography, jewelry to ceramics, plus decorative fiber (that’s me) and much more!
I’ll be in Booth 123 at the corner of University and First St. and I’d love to see you if you’re in the area!
Plus I’ll be posting on Instagram and Facebook during the show, so feel free to follow me either place for updates.
