I’ve spent the last week in my hometown in Florida helping my mom move into a new house, so I was thrilled when I came home last night to find a copy of Quilting Arts magazine in the mail with my article in it!

Quilting Arts Feb/Mar 2018 – Cindy Grisdela

The article is called “Secrets of the Art Show Circuit,” and it’s a summary of all the things I wish I had known before I started entering art shows ten years ago! I learned most things by trial and error–and a lot of help from the generosity of fellow artists who were farther along the path than I was. So I wanted to give back too. If you’ve ever thought about doing shows but weren’t sure where to start, maybe this article will give you some ideas. And if you’ve had experience doing shows and have some additional ideas to share, I’d love to hear them!

I’m excited to be in such good company in this issue of the magazine. There’s a great article by Victoria Gertenbach about creating talisman objects from cloth, beads, and shells or rocks–she’s also the cover girl! Maggie Vanderweit writes about painting geological textures, which I’ve never tried, but I was so inspired by her process when we were together shooting segments for Quilting Arts TV last September that I’m tempted to give it a shot. And Maria Shell continues her series on improv quilting with scraps that’s a lot of fun. Plus so many more!

I also did a segment for Quilting Arts TV on this topic that will air sometime in 2019.

Thanks for reading!
