I’m proud to announce that Confetti has been juried into Art Quilt Elements 2020!
This is my first time in this top tier show and I’m beyond excited. The show opens with a reception on Sunday, March 29, 2020 from 3-5 PM and runs through May 2, 2020. There were 762 entries from 182 artists and 48 were accepted. The list of accepted artists is available on the website and it’s a talented group–I’m thrilled to be part of it.
The show venue is a lovely gallery space in Wayne, PA–just outside Philadelphia.
Confetti is part of a series of large scale pieces I started two years ago, exploring the concept of cutting large freehand curves and laying out the entire piece improvisationally on my design wall before sewing anything together–a slightly different approach than how I normally work. It’s about 46″ square and I wrote about the design process in a blog post here.
This piece was also exhibited at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England in 2018 and at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX in 2019.
Below is a closeup of the stitching–simple randomly space vertical lines–so the color, line, and shape of the design can shine though.
