I’m pleased to announce the opening of my new solo show, Shape Shifting, at the Reston Art Gallery & Studios in Reston, VA. The exhibit showcases eight new contemporary wall quilts, plus several smaller works.

All the quilts in Shape Shifting grew from a single inspiration design. I was intrigued by the tension between the foreground white shapes and the background black shapes, depending on which way I looked at the image.

For each piece, I changed the colors and the values to explore this tension. Cutting into some of the forms created overlapping geometric shapes that seem to float in and out of focus. The boundaries between the shapes are fluid so that the foreground shapes and the background spaces can seem to change places.

Each piece is abstracted in a different way to push the interlocking geometric forms, fragmented curves, and layered planes into unique visual rhythms that invite the eye to move continuously across the surface.

The show runs through July 26, 2026 and the gallery is open Saturdays from 10 AM – 5 PM and Sundays Noon – 5 PM, or by appointment. There will be a free public artist reception with light refreshments on Sunday July 12 from 2 -4 PM if you’re in the DC Metro area. The gallery is located at 11400 Washington Plaza W on Lake Anne Plaza, Reston, VA on the bottom floor of the Heron House condominum facing the lake.

I’d love to see you if you have a chance to stop by!
