A busy spring just got busier with an acceptance to the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival in May!

This show is right in my backyard (almost) at the Reston Town Center in Virginia and I’ve visited it many times, but this is the first time I’ve been accepted there. The dates are Friday, May 17 from 5-8 PM, Saturday, May 18 from 10 AM – 6 PM and Sunday, May 19 from 10 AM – 4 PM. It’s a big show with over 200 artists in many different media–so there’s bound to be something for everyone!

Next month I’m showing for the first time at the American Craft Council show in Baltimore. It’s February 22-24 and I’ll be in Booth 3505. Then in April I’ll travel to Boston to participate in the Craftboston Spring Show for the second year. That one is April 19-21. Then back to Virginia!

In July I’ve been invited back to the State Street Art Fair in Ann Arbor, Michigan–that’s as far as my calendar goes so far.

Wonky Circle Quilt in Progress - Option 1

Wonky Circle Quilt in Progress – Option 1

I’m working on a some new pieces for these shows. These pictures are very rough, of course–I always hesitate before adding images of work in process because it looks so, well, unfinished–but I think it can be interesting to see how the work unfolds. There are always lots of decisions to make and it takes time for the composition to come together.

Wonky Circle Quilt in Progress – Option 2

This “Wonky Circle” quilt is the first one–and I’m trying to decide on a background. Cinnamon brown or deep red? Also whether to use the corner squares or not? The idea is to set the colorful center on a wide background to give lots of room to add interesting texture with the stitching lines. I’m thinking that the colors of the circles pop better on the deep red, but I’m going to give it a little more time before I decide.  Some new fabric colors are on order and I’ll see when they come what I think.

This quilt will be on the large side–probably 30″ high x 45″ wide.  I’ve got two more pieces on the design wall, so stay tuned!
