It’s Time for Art in the High Desert!
We’re open and ready to greet visitors at the Art in the High Desert Show in Bend, OR!
Over 100 artists from all over the country have their unique work displayed in booths lining the Deschutes River in Bend’s Old Mill District. This is a top quality show with some amazing art in a wide variety of media–bold abstract paintings, metal sculpture, stunning ceramics, beautiful jewelry and more.
I’m the only art quilter, but there are other kinds of fiber art, including basketry and batik that is really interesting to look at. This is one of my favorite shows to do–beautiful location, friendly people, lots of inspiring art!
My Mountain Sunrise abstract landscape is finished and in a prime location on the back wall of the booth, along with several of my small Improv Box series mounted on 8″x 8″ painted black canvas. Don’t they look fun together?
I’m trying something new this show to help visitors visualize how to use art quilts in their homes–a series of photos of my work actually hanging in place. These include a grouping of smaller pieces of varying size and color, a large piece over a buffet table, and two of the Improv Block series sitting on a bookcase. I also have a process photo of the stitching hanging over my neutral quilt Nuance on the left to help explain how I add the texture to my work.
The show is open from 10-6 today, Saturday August 26 and 10-4 Sunday, August 27. I’m in Booth 70 and I’d love to see you if you’re in the area and have a chance to stop by! Admission is free.
Mark your calendars–next weekend I’ll be at another great show–Art in the Pearl in Portland, OR Sept. 2-4.
