We’re open at the Ann Arbor Art Fair! This is a huge, 4 day event that takes over the streets of Ann Arbor, Michigan every third weekend in July.
There are actually four fairs making up the show–I’m in the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair–the Original–and my booth is #808 on N. University. Pretty much in the center of the show, which is great!
The show is open today and Saturday from 10-9 and Sunday from Noon-5.
I’m happy to be able to show some of my new work for the first time here.
My newest piece is called Homage to Matisse and I just finished it right before the show started. It’s a little different than the work I’ve done before–large shapes of color. The design reminded me of some of the Henri Matisse cut-outs that I visit every time I go to the National Gallery of Art–so that’s where the name came from.
This one is larger–about 40″h x 30″w.
Stained Glass, below is a new smaller 12″ square piece mounted on painted black canvas.
We set up on Wednesday and the show opened yesterday. It was a little warm, but all was fine until a microburst storm rolled through and one of my tent top corners came undone. I got drenched trying to go out and fix it before my booth drowned! I got it taken care of and the storm moved through, so it all worked out.
If you’re in the Ann Arbor area, I hope you’ll have a chance to stop by!
Meeting you at the art fair was a delight! You’re an inspiration and your pieces are beautiful.
Thanks so much, Mike–it was a pleasure to meet you. I appreciate you stopping by in the heat!
