I have work in two local in person shows in February, plus one virtual exhibit.

Fiber Art 5 Ways is on display at the JoAnne Rose Gallery at the Reston Community Center at Lake Anne in Reston, VA. The exhibit features the work of five local artists, including Jayne Gaskins, Anne Smyers, Susan Price, Barbara Wise and me. From the postcard in the featured image above, you can see that we each have a distinct approach to art quilting. Despite the differences, the exhibit hangs together well and we are very pleased with it!

Fiber 5 Ways – Gaskins and Smyers

The exhibit runs through the end of February. The Lake Anne Community Center is located at 1609A Washington Plaza N, Reston, VA. Hours are 9 AM – 9 PM Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM Saturday and 10 AM – 6 PM Sunday. FREE

The second in person exhibit is at the McLean Textile Gallery in McLean, VA. It’s a two person show with my work and the work of Eileen Doughty. Eileen’s focus is on trees and the natural landscape, and mine is on abstract design with color and texture.

From left, the quilts are Autumn Marbles (top), Carousel II, Aztec Autumn, Green Shoots, and Homage to Matisse II.

If you aren’t able to make the show in person, you can see it on YouTube as Eileen and I discuss the story behind each piece.

The Textile Gallery is located at 6819 Elm St. McLean, VA. Hours are 11 AM – 4 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Closed Wednesday. The show is up until February 26. FREE

For a few more days, you can see the virtual Imagination 1×4 exhibit at the Blackrock Center for the Arts. This one is a Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) regional exhibit and each of the 50 quilts are 12″ w x 48″ h. It was an interesting size restriction to work with. My quilt in this show is called Emerging and I wrote about the process of creating it at this link if you’re interested in its story (hint: it involved cutting up an old quilt top). The show will close February 20, 2021.

It’s great to have the opportunity to get my work out in the world!

Love Green Shoots! Like the curves and color design. Is your new book out yet?

Thank you Mary! The book is expected out in the fall–hopefully the end of September.
