I’m beyond excited to announce that the title and cover of my new book has been released. Artful Improv: Explore Color Recipes, Building Blocks & Freemotion Quilting is available for preorder at Amazon.com!
The book is scheduled for release November 1, 2016.
I spent most of last year writing Artful Improv and it’s thrilling to see it all coming together!
The book is based on my belief that we all have the ability to be creative if we give ourselves permission to play. In the first section, I focus on using color, line and texture to create unique improvisational quilts without using patterns. In the second section, I offer five of my favorite techniques–like free form log cabins, modern circles and angled stripes–to get you started. And then there’s a section on using the stitching lines to add texture and dimension to your piece. Plus lots of beautiful pictures of quilts–both mine and those of my students!
Tomorrow I’m packing the car to go to the American Fine Craft Show in Hartford, CT. Now in its second year, a portion of the show proceeds will go to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The venue is the XL Center in downtown Hartford. Hours are 11-7 Friday April 8, 10-6 Saturday April 9, and 11-5 Sunday April 10. Click on the link above for information about discounted tickets and a new refundable ticket option.
If you’re in the area, I’d love to see you there–I’ll be in Booth 160.
